Infrared heating is a sustainable, electrically powered form of heating compared to heating systems based on fossil fuels or biomass. An important difference between infrared heating and other forms of heating is that infrared radiation does not heat the air (convection) but rather a substance or solids. People, building walls and furniture thus absorb heat from the infrared radiation and release it evenly into the space to be heated. SHORT-WAVE INFRARED RADIATION (IR-A)
Short infrared rays (IR-A) in infrared heaters are generated due to the high temperatures of the heating element. Due to their wavelength, they penetrate the air mass extremely efficiently, so they hardly react to the movement of the air mass and immediately produce an effective feeling of warmth when they reach a person. MID-WAVE INFRARED RADIATION (IR-B)
Medium-wave radiators (IR-B), on the other hand, do not produce light and are perfectly suited for various indoor spaces where heat is needed. The longer the wavelength of infrared radiation, the less it penetrates the skin, as they can be produced at lower temperatures. LONG-WAVE INFRARED RADIATION (IR-C)
The longer the infrared rays, the less they penetrate the skin, because they can be produced in the device at lower temperatures. Our Etherma LAVA® heating panels , which produce long-wave infrared radiation, are designed to heat living spaces efficiently. The heat radiation is evenly distributed directly through the heated surface of the heating panels.
Infrared heat has also been used in healthcare for many years, such as in infrared saunas or red light treatments.
