EASY AND QUICK TASK TO INSTALL PATIO HEATER

A decent plan ensures the best outcome!

Installation of Solamagic and Etherma patio heaters is easy and quick, because almost all of our terrace heaters are ready-to-install "plug&play" packages. Each patio heater comes with a bracket that always provides sufficient safety distance to the background to be attached, which is usually a wall or ceiling structure.

You can also install a recessed heating system yourself, but it requires a bit more tools and skills. We recommend that you contact a professional electrician in your area if necessary.

The Solamagic or Etherma patio heater is sturdy, safe and durable in structure, but still light in weight, depending on the product, only 3-10 kg. The product does not come with mounting screws, because the wall or ceiling material to which the patio heater is attached may be stone, concrete, brick, wood, metal or something else. You can get the necessary mounting screws from your nearest hardware store and help from a knowledgeable salesperson if necessary. Just tell us what material you are attaching the patio heater to.

The installation height of the patio heater ensures the best benefit

You certainly want to get the most out of your new patio heater, right? That is, maximum heat with minimal energy consumption. Choosing the right installation point has a great impact on the heating effect, or rather on how much heat you feel in the area where you spend the most time. We naturally recommend following the recommended installation heights, because the effect of the patio heater decreases with increasing distance. For this reason, it is always a good idea to install the patio heater as close to the living area as possible. This is not so important for glass patio heaters, because they heat also the entire air mass in the glazed space.

Solamagic patio heater recommended maximum installation heights by power class.

We recommend choosing a patio heater that is a little too powerful, as the price difference is not significant and on the other hand, you can also dim the power in many devices if necessary. This way, the terrace or balcony season is as long as possible and you can enjoy your outdoor space as much as possible!

On the wall or on the ceiling? Or do I still need a patio heater that I can move freely?

When installing a wall heater, it is a good idea to consider whether there will be traffic between the heater and the living area. We think it is not wise to heat walkways or, for example, entrance areas, because usually there is no need for heat.

If you install the patio heater on a wall, please note that for example the distance to the other side of the dining table is longer, so people sitting closer to the heater will feel more heat. The Solamagic PREMIUM+ and AIR+ patio heaters use a silver-plated, asymmetrical reflector , which directs more heat further away and less towards the wall on which the patio heater is installed. This way, by optimizing the heat output, 15-18% more heat is produced in the living area!

When installing on a ceiling, it is particularly important to consider the recommended installation heights. If the ceiling height is so-called normal room height, i.e. approximately 2600-2800 mm, we recommend choosing a 2000W or preferably 2500W patio heater.

If you want a longer terrace season, it might be worth considering purchasing two efficient terrace heaters, so you can install them on both sides of the dining table or one on top of the dining table and the other, for example, above the sofa group.

If your space is large, over 20 m2, you will need two or more radiant heaters to provide enough heat for the entire space. We also think that a cost-effective option could be the portable Solamagic FREE+ patio heater , or one of our other portable models , which you can always move to the desired location as needed!

Safety distances ensure safe installation

When installing a patio heater, it is also important to take into account the safety distances stated by the manufacturer, which are always presented in the instruction manual that comes with the product. This ensures safe installation and allows you to use your patio heater without worry. The surface temperature of the heating element may be very high, but Lämpöstore's patio heaters always use high-quality insulation material, which allows the safety distances to be smaller and the heat produced by the heater to be directed as efficiently as possible to the area where it is felt. If possible and you need to install the heat radiator vertically, please ensure that the power cable is always at the bottom of the heater.

The following safety distances can be considered as a rule of thumb:

  • For wall mounting, distance to ceiling 350 mm
  • Distance to side wall 350 mm
  • Distance to socket 100 mm
  • Distance to objects in the affected area 1000 mm
  • The distance provided by the bracket is always sufficient for the background to be attached
  • Please note that curtains, for example, do not come into contact with the patio heater in the wind.

Other things to note:

  • Make sure that children or pets cannot touch the patio heater.
  • Please do not leave the heater on without adult supervision.
  • Patio heaters with an ARC or BTC control unit are also equipped with a timer function, which means the heater will automatically turn off after a desired time.
  • Read the patio heater's instruction manual before installation.

Attaching a separate control unit to the patio heater

If you wish, you can purchase a separate control unit for the Solamagic PREMIUM+ and AIR+ patio heater, which can be attached to the patio heater with the two included Allen screws. You can easily install the power cable yourself, as it is equipped with an easy-to-use Hirschmann quick connector.

Separate Solamagic Control Unit in anthracite color.

All Solamagic control units are equipped with a Hirschmann quick connector and are always compatible with the following Solamagic patio heaters:

  • PREMIUM+ 1400 and 2000
  • PREMIUM+ 2500
  • AIR+ 2000

The ARC-marked control unit comes with a remote control, and the BTC-marked control unit works via Bluetooth and you can control it with your own smartphone.

For the above mentioned Solamagic patio heaters, you can purchase power cables of different lengths as an accessory. The standard cable that comes with the patio heater is 2.5 meters long. The white heater always has a white cable and the other colors have a dark gray cable. You can choose the cable to be ordered as an accessory in white or dark gray and the available lengths are 0.5 / 2.5 / 5.0 / 7.5 or 10 meters.

For optimal installation, you may need a longer or shorter power cable than the standard 2.5 m cable in some situations.

It is not possible to replace the power cables sold as accessories for patio heaters with a 1.8 meter power cable.

The IP protection class ensures safe use of the patio heater outdoors.

The IP (Ingress Protection) rating of an electrical device indicates the tightness of the device's enclosure and determines the device's protection against, for example, dust and water. The IP marking consists of two numbers, the first of which indicates the device's protection against foreign objects such as dust, the second number indicates the device's protection against water.

All Solamagic patio heaters are IP X4 or X5 protected devices. The first number varies between 2, 4 or 6 depending on the model, but this does not have much significance in normal use.

  • IP X4 rating means that the patio heater is protected against splashing water from all directions.
  • IP X5 rating means that the patio heater is protected against water jets from all directions.

All Etherma patio heaters are always IP 65 protected, which means a completely dust-tight structure and protection against water jets.

Some patio heaters from other manufacturers may be protected against immersion in water, but in what situation do you need such strong moisture protection from a patio heater?
